New Year Resolutions...number 1

1. Do a craft fair

This is it, this is the year. It's time I did a craft fair. The last one I did was about 20 years ago

 - have things changed? what's the etiquette for craft fairs these days? how much stock should I make?

I have a few things in mind to make and sell, but I like lists so I will make one and take great satisfaction in crossing things off as I make them in prep for my re-introduction to the crafting community.

I will just need to keep focused though. That's the things with crafting - you potentially end up with lots of things...things you might like to keep and occassionally too many things to know what to do with!

I found this website detailing craft fairs in the northwest....hopefully there will be something not too far away.

www.ukcraftfairs.com

Best get googling for info on craft fairs too..unless anyone out there has any advice or info they could share??

Anyone?

Rainbows....

Granny Squares are ADDICTIVE!....

personal note:

I needed something to help me take a time out from a few of life's challenges...I had a miscarriage just before christmas and as character building as life is meant to be, sometimes you can do without the drama's!

Having said that, it's life's drama's that inspired me to start this blog and share my concept of MedARTation following my first miscarriage in July.

As mentioned before I wanted to have a go at crocheting a granny blanket! and what better project to throw myself in to right now.

The fantastic tutorial I posted has set me on my way and I have been busy busy crocheting squares for what seems like FOREVER, but it gives me some peace and helps me to switch off ...just for a bit anyway.

Which Colour?

As it is the festive season I have opted for some warm festive colours, but not too bright....that way I can either keep my blanket out year round or just bring it out as part of the festive decorations and snuggle under it on those cold winter nights.

I have picked 3 colours to keep the patterns fairly simple and decided to always end with the green row to provide a background colour to the blanket rather than mixing it up. The variagated red wool will also add some extra interest and the patterns will be unpredictable helping with the 'handmade' look I am aiming for.

Each square consists of 6 rows and measures about 6 inches (the better I get the smaller the square, but they will all match up with a bit of manipulating - phew!) and the cats have been pretty good at not attacking the balls of wool, but do have the odd moment of temptation to interupt proceedings every now and then :o)

I am aiming to make my blanket 48 inches x 72 inches so that's 8 squares x 12 squares =

96 squares!
(gulp)

I have six different 'patterns' and a pile of squares but....

......I am only about a third of the way there........

Best crack on!

Felt Christmas Decorations....in action!

so.....

Before I pack away the tree for another year I thought I would share a few pictures of some of my felt creations and christmas decorations from 2012 ...IN ACTION!

These are a few I selected to hang on the tree and they really added a little something extra. It's also a nice way to display your handiwork too!

I'm really happy I got back into crafting in 2012.

It really is addictive and as well as the MedARTation aspect, it provides a sense of achievement, ignites your creativitity and there's also the social aspect too as I am finding more and more friends with crafting talents to share ideas with.

It all adds up to fun and a great excuse to play and I am looking forward to continuing the fun in the new year.

I'll keep you posted.
